M MODERN SHOW!

I want to thank everyone that came out to my M Modern solo show on Sat.
It was a great time. Also two other great artist were doing there own solo shows in the big room. Robert Pokorny & Jeremiah Ketner. We were all soloing together. I have some pics from when I was setting up the show, and a couple of the new other resin blimp “Know Your Enemy #1”. I’ll have some more pictures from the event. Photograper Greg Day was getting lot’s of pics during the show. Here’s a link so you can check out all the art here. Thanks to Jay & MiShell Nailor, Perry and Andraya for all their help. I had this amazing room to fill. The show will be up for a while so if you get a chance swing by.

IT'S THE BLIMP!

I've been working away on this one in relative secrecy I wanted it to be a surprise!
Only 2 will be at the M Modern show, more are on the way. They are limited edition no two will be alike. Aside from the fact that as always with my resin creations I sculpted, molded, cast and painted the parts myself. Although I do have to thank Julie B for letting me invade the Pretty In Plastic Studios for a couple days while I was working on the molds. Each blimp will have a hand sculpted pilot character. Each one will be signed and numbered.

The Blimp is about 12.2" inches long and 7.5" around. The gondola is about 8"long.
They are suspended from sturdy monofilament cradles. I thought of making it so it could stand on a flat surface, too much weight. Ultimately I don't know how many I will make, it is a bit like building a model ship.
I’ll be posting the “making of” here on the blog starting next week after the show opening.

NAVIGATING IMAGINARY SKIES!

I'm very excited about my upcoming solo show at M Modern Gallery in Palm Springs! For the last few months I've working away on many new paintings, and a special new limited edition resin creation. The show opens Sat April 19th 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
I will be there. Keep checking back for sneak peeks at some of the work from the show.

JEREMIAH THE INNOCENT!

I wanted to give a little promotion to another toy project I had the pleasure of sculpting. Jeremiah The Innocent by Daniel Johnston. I've always liked the challenge of bringing very 2-D images into 3-D. This was one of them, I've also always been a fan of the deceptively simplistic art of Daniel.

First Laying UP the basic shape with a foil core

The rough form, trying very hard to keep the feel of the original drawing.

After notes and smoothing, the final sculpt.

Then the finished product! I think it turned out great.
