DEVIL ON THE CANVAS!

My new piece for the "Over The Line!" Coen Brothers Tribute show at LTD Gallery.  There are so many Coen Brothers movies to love how do I choose which one to create a robotic tribute.  Barton Fink was always a big favorite, especially when the force him to watch wrestling pictures!
The scene always killed me.

Also it must translate into some kind of robot thing for me.  Now the complete "Devil On The Canvas" 9"X12" Acrylic on MDF board.

I won't be able to be in Seattle for this one but if you get a chance to go take some pictures I'd love to see the show.  I've been playing with the Vine App.  It's fun, a very creative challenge to see what can be done I believe in a 11 second loop.  This is the "How To Make A Super Sculpey Robot"

I'm interested in getting more people on Vine Love to see more creative loops.  In other exciting news I will be opening my first Etsy store in June!  I'll devote an entire post to the new store and what will be available next week.  The Artist Statement Robot block print set will be available as well as some posters, and original art.  More next week.

Hi Dave,

I am a HUGE fan of "Robot And Monster", I absolutely LOVE the show! :D The characters are great, the shows are really funny and the animation looks fantastic! Great job! And congratulations on the show getting nominated for an Emmy! I do have one question for you: Is there going to be a second season of R&M?

I know a while back you said that there was a 14-episode second season that you started working on but was never really picked up. Did anything ever come of this? Also, Nickelodeon said that "Robot And Monster" would be returning during their upfront earlier this year. Could you please clarify this for me? Thanks.

If the show will not be getting a second season, can you please do one thing for me? I made a petition on Change.org to try and get a season 2 for the show. It would mean a lot to me if you would sign it. Here's the link:

http://www.change.org/petitions/nickeldeon-viacom-renew-robot-and-monster-for-a-second-season

As you can see, it unfortunately only has one signature: mine. I was thinking that if you want to, you could post about it on Twitter and/or on your blog, since people will listen to you and the petition will get a lot more signatures. Just an idea. Anyway, thanks for your support, and again, I REALLY enjoy your show! :D

Thanks Adam! Right now I don't think Nick has any intentions of doing a second season. The 14 second season episodes were ordered then shelved, which is a mixed message in it self. At the upfronts they were referring to un-aired episodes from the first season. There are still 4 episodes they have not shown including a 2 part season finale. I think a fan petition would be a great way to get this going, the best thing fans of R&M can do is let the network know you want to see more Robot And Monster. I will sign the petition and let people know it is there. Thanks again! -DP

Hi Dave,

Wow, thanks so much for tweeting about my petition! That's awesome! :D It already has a bunch more signatures. These types of petitions have been able to convince TV networks to do things before, so let's hope Nickelodeon listens if this one gets enough signatures. Yeah, I'm dying to see the last four episodes of the first season, I know they were all scheduled to air last fall but got pulled and still haven't been rescheduled. I hope they air soon!

Oh, and there was one more thing I wanted to ask you: On Wikipedia, there is a list of all the episodes of Robot And Monster. The original production code of each episode is listed as well. We are able to find out the prod. codes by searching for the show in the U.S. copyright database, the thing is that it only lists episodes 101 through 121. Do you think you can tell me the titles of episodes 122 through 126, so that I can fill them in on Wikipedia and make the article more complete? This would be great. Thanks again, you are awesome! :D

Hi Dave,

Wow, thanks so much for tweeting about my petition! That means a lot to me! :D And it's finally starting to take off, it now has 103 signatures and counting. Yeah, I can't wait to see the last four episodes of season 1. I know they were all scheduled to air last fall but Nickelodeon pulled them at the last minute and they still haven't been rescheduled. Hopefully they will all air soon!

Oh, and there was one more thing I wanted to ask you: On Wikipedia, there is a list of all the episodes of "Robot And Monster". For each episode, its original production code is listed. These prod. codes can be found by searching for the show in the U.S. Copyright Database, the thing is, it only lists episodes 101 through 121. Can you please tell me the titles of episodes 122 through 126 so that I can add their prod. codes to the list and complete it? This would be great. Thanks again, you're so awesome! :)

Okay. Thanks so much, Dave! :) And sorry my last comment posted twice, when I first did it yesterday, I got an error message so I thought it didn't go through, but I guess it did.

Hey there Adam,
I found the list of titles here are the titles you were interested in. The only Problem is I don't know the "Cart Pairings" Which 2 episodes go together.

Hi Dave,

Sorry it took this long for me to respond. I forgot to keep checking this post for your response, so I didn't see it until now.

If you go to copyright.gov, you can click the "Search Records" button, and then search for "Robot And Monster" to find a list of the episodes in their original production order (which is very different from the order they were aired in). The only thing is, the list only shows episodes 101 - 121. I was wondering if you could tell me what episodes 122 - 126 are. I know the titles of these episodes, I just need to know which ones go with which prod. codes.

Not sure if you realized this, but to make it even more confusing, Nickelodeon has rearranged many of the "cart pairings" and given them new episode numbers. For example, Episode 101 in production was "Monster's Great Escape" / "A Better Marf Trap", while Episode 101 according to Nickelodeon is "Monster's Great Escape" / "Game Boys". You can see a list of Nickelodeon's episode numbers here:

http://www.nickandmore.com/episode-lists/nickelodeon/robot-and-monster.txt

So I'd like to know the prod. codes for the ones Nickelodeon calls episodes 119, 120, 121, and 126 (these titles are not listed in the copyright database). Please let me know if you can help me. I really appreciate it, thanks! :)

Oh, and, I know you probably don't know any more than I do about this, but it can't hurt to ask... any news on when the four unaired episodes might be released? I'm dying to see them! It's been more than 8 and a half months since the last new R&M... I'm going crazy here! But, at the same time, maybe it's good that they're dragging the show out because I don't want it to end. I'm never going to give up the fight for Season 2, though, and my petition is really taking off now. :)

Alright, please try to answer my questions if you can, I appreciate it. Keep being awesome, and thanks again for giving us this AWESOME show! :D

Hey Adam, All of the episode info I gave you is all I know. Glad you are still supporting the cause! I have not been in touch with the studio this year at all, I have no idea if or when they plan to air the remaining episodes. I feel their reasoning is misguided and and demonstrates poor judgement to program a successful network. Keep up the good fight, I'll be making a blog entry soon with all of the info for contacting Nick, since I get quite a few emails form devoted fans like you who want to see more and want to be heard by the network.

Hi Dave,

Alright, thanks anyway. I very much appreciate your help.

Your idea of making a blog post sounds great! :) Please include the link to my petition. Also, I've been doing some research and I'm pretty sure the publicist for R&M is Katelyn Balach, who can be e-mailed at: Katelyn.Balach@nick.com. You might want to advise people to e-mail her. :) I've tried e-mailing her, but haven't received a response yet.

I totally agree. I think how Nickelodeon treated this show displays very poor judgment on their part, as I really think that it could have really become a sensation if it got a better treatment. It's a complete mystery to me why they didn't like it. Everything about this show is top-notch. I really mean that. :) It's such a shame to see a fantastic show like this never get to live up to its potential due to poor decisions on the network's part. I will never give up trying to make them see what a great show this is.

Would it be at all possible for you to find out from Nickelodeon what their plans are for the unaired episodes? If so, that would be awesome, because I'm dying to see them and I'd like to have some idea of when they might be released. I'm sure they'll air at some point, possibly on the Nicktoons Network channel.

Actually, I learned something interesting today. The unaired episodes "A Better Marftrap" / "Monster Lie" and "Monster Hit" have actually aired in other countries. A third unaired episode, "Dirty Money" / "What J.D. Wants", was on Nickelodeon's website a few months back. The final unaired episode, "J.D. Loves Gart" / "Misery Date", is available on Amazon Instant Video. So all four of them have been released at some point, we just have to wait for them to be aired in the U.S.

Oh, yeah, one more question: In the episode title "A Better Marftrap", is "Marftrap" one word or two? I've seen it written both ways, and I'd just like to be clear on the correct way for when I talk about the episode. Thanks! :D
